Brake drum mechanical failure cause inspection
First, support the hot brake drum with a jack, charge the air pressure to more than 8kg, step on the brake, and then release the brake. If the brake adjustment arm of the brake drum cannot return in time, it can be judged that it is The cause of the mechanical failure; then check the return of the brake adjustment arm by pulling the handbrake and releasing the handbrake. The following factors can cause the brake adjuster arm not to return or to return slowly:
1. Camshaft bending or camshaft bracket deformation;
2. The two ends of the camshaft bracket are not lubricated for a long time, causing rust, sticking and difficulty in rotation;
3. The brake shoe return spring is broken, or loses elasticity after high temperature;
4. The axle tube is bent, making it difficult to rotate the camshaft;
5. The brake shoe bracket is deformed and does not return, or the shoe is always in contact with the brake drum;
6. After replacing the brake shoe, improper adjustment of the brake gap will also cause the brake drum to heat up. For example, for a two-bridge car, the brake clearance of three brake drums is adjusted just right, but the brake clearance of one brake drum is too small, so during driving, the brake drum with a smaller brake clearance will have a temperature. It may be too high; for example, if the bearing clearance is too small, the hot part should be on the wheel hub.
In short, the brake drum is hot due to mechanical failure. It is relatively easy to check the cause of the failure. As long as the cause of the failure and the solution can be found by checking and verifying the steps in sequence.
